Ahead of Google, del.icio.us, etc.

Regular Simpy users know some new gear was put in place about a month ago. When that happened I wanted to post some charts that show the dramatic performance improvements, just like I posted performance charts after some tuning and performance charts after some caching. After that tuning and caching was done, I went to see Simpy's performance chart on GrabPERF and found it right behind Technorati and Google (see Technorati - Google - Simpy)! Needless to say, I was very pleased. This was about 9-10 months ago.
So, if I was very pleased back then, when Simpy was the third fastest site monitored by GrabPERF, imagine my joy when I saw Simpy ahead of Google, Technorati, del.icio.us, Amazon.... While Simpy is regularly ahead of del.icio.us, Google is almost always in that #1 spot. However, not today - Simpy was a whole 0.03 seconds ahead of Google, and I have a screenshot to prove it:
What is even more interesting and more exciting for me, is that Simpy performed this well while working extra hard after being included in the story about The Top 10 Underrated Web 2.0 Sites (apparently Simpy falls in the Underrated category, at least for some folks). This story that made it to Digg's home page, and we all know what that means. Did I mentioned you should go digg that story and help it stay on Digg's front page a little longer (e.g. Monday morning)?

wow ... congratulations. Simpy really feels a lot snappier since the new hardware was installed.
Well signe up for your service and learning what this is all about. Taking some time as I'm rather illiterate on a computer. However I will say automated or not thank you for personalized e-mail concerning any help I may have neede on your site. This is above and beyond what any of these other social bookmarking sites have even begun to do in assisting the illiterate computer-user. And congrats on being .03 seconds ahead of Google in monitoring by Grabperf.

Yeah, a lot snappier. It's not only that the new hardware is better, I think the old hardware also had some issues that made it extra slow (I say this after doing benchmarks, kernel compilations, and such, to compare its performance to another identical server)

Don't worry about having to know a lot about computers in order to use Simpy. Simpy is quite easy to use and if you want to save pages that you find online while surfing, I think you'll find it useful. If you need help, there is a simpy-user list you can write to, or you can just use the contact form on the site and ask that way. Welcome to Simpy!
Great job, Otis! Thanks.
the speed is indeed good.. on of the things i always liked about simpy.
However what would be really impressive would be if it was that fast with all the features turned ON. While all the other bookmarking sites seem to have been adding features.. simpy seems to be shedding them. Caching. Link checking. Most visited, etc..
