Tumblr Spammed! Tumblr Dead?

Every site/service that's based on people joining and making it their home by collecting or publishing some kind of content in their new home is attractive to spammers and "self-promoters", as I like to call them. Here at Simpy I noticed and increasing number of Tumblr bookmarks over the past few weeks. Very often, these bookmarks and the people who have Tumblr bookmarks look like spam. Alexa, while not accurate, does show a crazy spike in recent weeks:
What does this tell you? It tells me that spammers have infected Tumblr. I see that Tumblr's Blog has been inactive for months, and people are wondering whether Tumblr is dead. Does anyone have any details?

Hi. It is "Tumblr," not "Thumblr," and while Thumblr.com you are linking to is apparently a link farm, Tumblr.com is still available.

While tumblr.com is still available, the sudden traffic spike for no apparent reason is still suspicious, don't you think?
